Responsibilities

Primary Duties

  • Develop end-to-end engineered solutions for new business pursuits and customer renewals.
  • Analyze customer data (volumes, order profiles, storage requirements, service needs) to determine labor, space, process, and asset requirements.
  • Design warehouse layouts, workflows, and operating models that meet customer and operational requirements.
  • Create detailed process flows, layouts (Visio/AutoCAD), and supporting solution documentation.

Additional Duties

  • Build and maintain engineering models (labor, cost, and capacity) used to support solution development and pricing.
  • Own all solution assumptions and ensure they are clearly documented and aligned across stakeholders.
  • Develop accurate, defensible pricing outputs that align with operational design and financial expectations.
  • Support updates and revisions to models as opportunities evolve, ensuring version control and clear communication of changes.
  • Support both new customer pursuits and redesign efforts for existing accounts.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing solutions through process optimization, cost reduction, system enhancements, and automation.
  • Assist in re-engineering solutions to improve service levels, scalability, and long-term customer retention.
  • Partner with Operations to validate solution feasibility and alignment to site capabilities.
  • Work with Finance to support pricing reviews, cost validation, and internal approvals.
  • Collaborate with IT/System teams to define WMS requirements and system impacts of proposed solutions.
  • Support internal reviews and present solution details to leadership as required.
  • Prepare solution documentation to support handoff to implementation teams.
  • Ensure engineering models, assumptions, and process designs are clearly communicated to stakeholders.
  • Support post-design clarifications and adjustments as needed during implementation planning.

Job Description
The Senior Solution Design Engineer is responsible for designing, modeling, and pricing 3PL solutions that support both new business opportunities and renewals for existing customers. This role plays a critical part in developing engineered solutions that are operationally sound, financially aligned, and executable across warehouse and distribution networks.
You will partner closely with commercial, operations, finance, and IT teams to translate customer requirements into scalable solutions while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality across all models, assumptions, and deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop end-to-end engineered solutions for new business pursuits and customer renewals.

Modeling, Pricing & Assumptions

Required Qualifications
  • Experience in solution design, industrial engineering, or logistics engineering within a warehouse, distribution, or 3PL environment.
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills, with the ability to translate operational design into pricing and financial outputs.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations and WMS/system-enabled fulfillment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience working across cross-functional teams.
  • You must live in the same geographic area or willing to relocate yourself for the job. (No relocation offered)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting both new business pursuits and customer renewals in a 3PL environment.
  • Familiarity with engineering cost models and solution pricing methodologies.
  • Exposure to warehouse automation and material handling systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
