This role offered a fast-paced environment with frequent movement and a consistently busy workload, which suited my preferences. Responsibilities included stocking rotating shelves and cashiering. Cross-training was provided across various positions. While the manager was supportive, she frequently utilized headphones while working. Despite instructions to keep personal devices stored in lockers, the lack of consistent support and occasional communication created a challenging environment, particularly given my family responsibilities. Some team members exhibited a lack of engagement and a focus on early departures, prioritizing speed over customer service. Scheduling was determined by the company, resulting in unpredictable shifts that varied significantly from week to week, often starting at 4:00 PM, 1:00 PM, or 3:30 PM. The scheduling system created inconsistencies in hours, with some weeks offering substantial time and others providing only one or two 8-hour shifts. Despite assurances of increased hours at other locations, this did not materialize. Initial training was limited to a few days and primarily involved tablet-based video instruction. The overall experience felt rushed, with shifts often feeling significantly shorter than their scheduled duration.
