As a Litigated Claims Consultant General Liability, you will play a critical role in protecting Publix by managing litigated and non-litigated general liability and fleet claims of moderate to high value. The candidate will need to possess advanced judgment, litigation strategy, and negotiation skills. You will act as Publix's strategic lead on assigned claims directing defense counsel, attending mediations and trials, evaluating exposure, setting reserves, conducting additional investigation and evidence preservation as needed, identifying and handling risk transfer/tender and subrogation opportunities, negotiating settlements and presenting files to the Risk Management leadership team for reviews while serving as a trusted advisor to Risk Management leadership. This position is ideal for a claims professional who enjoys autonomy, claims analysis, and making decisions that have meaningful financial and operational impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

• This position is responsible for actively adjusting mid to higher level litigated and non-litigated general liability and auto claims including investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution, including management of outside defense counsel on a case-by-case basis.
• This position is responsible for completing demand review and negotiation/settlement of both non-litigated and litigated claims.
• This position is responsible for initial investigation and review of information pertaining to individual claims (regardless of litigation status) including setting of reserves and ongoing review of reserves to ensure appropriate financial exposure is entered into the Risk Management claim system.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline or in the alternative, a high school diploma with 5 years of claims experience
• 3 years of liability claims handling experience
• Ability to obtain Florida All Lines Adjuster License upon hire as well as reciprocal licenses for all the states that Publix operates in

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4 years of liability claims handling experience including litigation
• CCLA, SCLA, or CPCU designation
• Actively holds Florida All Lines Adjuster's License
• Bilingual, preferably Spanish
• Knowledge of legal issues and burden of proof relating to GL and Auto negligence in all states Publix operates in
• Knowledge of legal issues and evidentiary standards relating to damages in all states Publix operates in
• Knowledge of risk transfer and notice obligations relating to same
