Pest Control Lead Technician

• BoyntonWe're seeking a Lead Pest Control Technician with thorough knowledge of pest control regulations and FIFRA (Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act) to join our team! The purpose of this position is to provide pest control, bird prevention and wildlife prevention services to all Publix support facilities according to the Publix Integrated Pest Management Program.

Responsibilities include

Coordinating, overseeing, and conducting formal inspections in non-retail areas (Distribution, Manufacturing, and Office) to eliminate insects, rodents, or unwanted wildlife

  • Leading and training pest control associates reporting to Corporate Quality Assurance

Ensuring only approved and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registered pesticides are used according to the directions on the pesticide label as prescribed by law

Surveying property, identifying issues, evaluating options, and prescribing control efforts that in no way adversely affect the environment and do not violate the law

  • Recording work history into SAP to track work activities, chemical usage and labor
  • Required Qualifications

    High School Diploma or its equivalent

    1 year as a Pest Control Technician A or equivalent pest control experience

    Limited structural Pest Control certification

  • Be at least 20 years old and have a valid driver's license and obtain authorization to drive a company vehicle (on or before his or her start date in the position)
  • Be able to obtain medical clearance to wear respiratory protection (an air purifying respirator) within 2 weeks of accepting the contingent job offer (requires maintaining facial hair in a manner ensuring the respirator fits properly)
  • Be able to use a snorkel, boom or high lift (from 50 to 130 feet)
  • Willingness to travel overnight and work various work schedules, weekends, nights and holidays

  • Knowledge of entomology
  • Thorough knowledge of FDA Food Codes and the Code of Federal Regulations concerning food safety

    Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to the control and handling of urban wildlife and urban pest birds. (US Fish and Wildlife Services)

    Preferred Qualifications

    Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Entomology or a science related field

    Pest Control Operator certification

    5 years as a Pest Control Technician A or equivalent
