Responsibilities

Primary Duties

  • Provide strategic direction and thought leadership for Publix's and Publix Charities' investment portfolios.
  • Determine asset allocation and investment strategies and present recommendations to Investment Committees.
  • Lead Publix's Investment Committee and Publix Charities' Investment Committee; serve on the Publix 401(k) Investment Committee.
  • Monitor economic conditions, market trends, and financial indicators to inform investment decisions.

Additional Duties

  • Manage portfolio risk while generating optimal after-tax investment income.
  • Monitor portfolio performance against benchmarks and ensure compliance with the Investment Management Program.
  • Conduct and oversee credit reviews; direct appropriate actions when needed.
  • Approve security purchases, including validation of pricing, credit analysis and broker sourcing.
  • Recommend updates to investment policies and present changes to investment committees as required.
  • Evaluate, select, and monitor custodial banks, brokers, and other service providers.
  • Oversee Bloomberg usage for research, analytics, trading, and performance measurement.
  • Lead and manage Investment Managers and Analysts.
  • Oversee workflows, performance evaluations, and professional development.
  • Foster a high-performing, disciplined investment culture aligned with Publix values.

Director of Investments | Publix Super Markets, Inc.
Publix Super Markets, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Director of Investments. This role provides strategic oversight of investment portfolios exceeding $17 billion (primarily in fixed income securities), directly influencing enterprise earnings. The Director of Investments partners closely with executive leadership and investment committees to ensure disciplined, risk-aware investment management aligned with Publix's values and long-term vision. This position requires in-person office attendance.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month's extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
Other Compensation Information
This position is also eligible for an Incentive Bonus, which is determined based on the Company's results compared to its sales and profit goals for the fiscal year. The Company's incentive bonus plan is based on a target bonus equal to two months' pay, but the bonus varies from year to year based on the Company's results. Therefore, the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus listed above is estimated using a target bonus equal to two months' pay, but the amount may be more or less than the target based on the Company's actual results. New participants transition into the incentive bonus over a 12-month period.
