The Headphones and Accessories Quality Engineering team is looking for a motivated Tools & Automation Engineer to design, implement, test and maintain next generation audio and connectivity solutions for the AirPods product line. You're responsible for creating and delivering world changing experiences on the very latest Apple products.
In this role, you will develop creative and efficient test solutions for both current and next-generation products.
You will take ownership of product quality by identifying issues, analyzing root causes, and partnering closely with development teams to drive timely resolutions.
You will design comprehensive test plans for new features that balance technical accuracy with an exceptional customer experience. The role involves developing and maintaining automated test scripts in Python, along with tracking results and communicating findings through clear, organized reporting.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable automation solutions. Additionally, you will be responsible for bringing up and maintaining test setups, as well as troubleshooting and improving test frameworks and scripts on a regular basis.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts using Python.
Develop creative and efficient test solutions for current and next-generation products.
Design comprehensive test plans for new features that balance technical requirements and customer experience.
Track test and automation results, document issues clearly, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable automation solutions.
Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot test environments, test equipment, and automation frameworks on an ongoing basis.
Minimum QualificationsExperience in audio testing, software testing, isolating issues, devising test plans, aiming to specification.

You have the capacity to dive deep technically, learn new technologies, and understand the technical details of an accessory or product system.
Preferred QualificationsYou have foundational understanding of electronics and audio technologies, with a discerning ear for identifying sound anomalies and evaluating audio quality.
You have strong analytical skills with the ability to extract meaningful insights from large data sets and perform clear, quantitative assessments.
You have the ability to communicate complex concepts and key risks effectively to non-technical audiences.
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build relationships, collaborate across teams, and influence project outcomes.
You're curious, passionate, and have an innovative mindset, with enthusiasm for exploring new approaches to everyday challenges.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $115,700 and $203,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation.
