The Apple Advanced Technologies Group is looking for a motivated electrical engineer to drive the design of next generation touch sensors. Our group's objective is to enable the delivery of world class user experiences Apple products are famous for. We achieve this objective through the design and integration of high-precision, low-latency multi-touch and stylus sensors across several product lines. As Apple products are continually evolving, we consistently face complex multi-disciplinary problems spanning such areas as: Circuit Analysis, Electro-magnetics, DSP, Algorithm Development, Material Science, Manufacturing logistics. Overcoming these problems requires creativity, sharp problem-solving skills, and strong EE fundamentals.
ResponsibilitiesDesign of sensor modules, including electro-magnetic modeling and circuit modeling
Support of end-to-end system definition and development (sensor, signal processing, ASIC performance, algorithm development)
Scoping of new sensor technologies and support of proof-of-concept investigations
Collaboration with several different technology teams to evaluate system design options and trade-offs
Review and define algorithms for signal and noise conditioning requirements
Optimization of designs across multidisciplinary boundaries (Mechanical, materials, process, algorithms, calibration, testing, reliability, factory operations)
Performing failure-mode analysis and root-cause analysis using system-level problem solving and statistical data analysis
Support of new product definition through engineering analysis, market surveys and competitive analysis
Business travel to support product development
Minimum QualificationsBS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
Strong analog/mixed-signal/electro-magnetic fundamentals
Preferred QualificationsPh.D or Masters degree in electrical engineering (or related field)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Solid teamwork and leadership skills
Hands-on experience with system-level design
Proficiency in FEA (Comsol, ANSYS, Maxwell), MATLAB, Python, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling tools
Pay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
