Media, Graphics & Compute Technologies (MGCT) group provides the media and graphics foundation across all of Apple's innovative products, including Mac, iPod, TV, iPhone, iPad, Watch, VisionPro and also Apple Intelligence. Developing groundbreaking software techniques, MGCT takes the media experience to the next level.
We are looking for a hardworking software quality engineer with a strong technical background and understanding of different network topologies, video, and audio technologies. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and conducting performance tests and building automated testing for the aforementioned features on all Apple supported platforms. Work and chip in towards quality engineering / QA of Real-time Communication technologies, build test automation to qualify audio, and video quality in complex scenarios emulating real world network traffic types. The Media Conferencing QE team under MGCT provides the networking and media frameworks for Group FaceTime, FaceTime, Phone Continuity, HomeKit IP Cameras, WiFi-Calling / VoLTE, RTT, Sidecar, AirPlay 4K HDR and much more.
ResponsibilitiesOwn execution, compilation of results, filing and reporting of issues to engineering and leadership for assigned set of features and technologies.
Develop and maintain functional and/or performance automation for said features and technologies.
Enhance testing to deepen the analysis and validation capabilities.
Strategize with team and cross functionally how to catch wider sets of issues and prevent regressions from escaping into the operating system.
Qualify new features and develop test plans and automation for them.
Minimum QualificationsB.S. in Computer Science
Proficiency in Python
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work accordingly
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred Qualifications2-5 years of industry experience, particularly in driving testing of large complex projects
- Experience testing Video/Audio codecs or Video/Audio evaluation systems
Experience with networking protocols such as RTP, RTCP
CI/CD, containerization
Pay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $115,700 and $203,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
