Wi-Fi System Feature Analyst
Apple
Wi-Fi System Feature AnalystAt Apple, we are seeking a Wi-Fi Feature Analyst to evaluate and drive the development of next-generation Wi-Fi features for Apple products. This role focuses on analyzing emerging Wi-Fi capabilities, assessing their real-world application value, and determining optimal implementation strategies.
You will evaluate feature performance, quantify user benefits, analyze implementation costs, and work cross-functionally to prioritize and drive feature development from proof-of-concept for key performance metrics through product integration. Your analysis will directly influence which Wi-Fi features are implemented and how they enhance the connectivity experience for millions of Apple customers. As Wi-Fi technology advances with new protocols (Wi-Fi 8, Wi-Fi 9) and evolving application demands, this role requires a feature-focused analyst who can bridge the gap between technical capabilities and user value, making data-driven recommendations that balance performance benefits against implementation costs.
In this role, core works cover, but are not limited to:
Analyze emerging Wi-Fi standards (IEEE 802.11be/Wi-Fi 7, IEEE 802.11bn/Wi-Fi 8) and evaluate how these features map to real-world applications across Apple's product portfolio (spatial computing, gaming, video streaming, multi-device environments, and AI/ML workloads)
Quantify performance improvements through simulation, modeling, and prototyping and translate technical capabilities into tangible user benefits (improved video quality, reduced latency, extended battery life, seamless roaming)
Evaluate implementation costs including hardware/software complexity, silicon area, power consumption, development effort, and time-to-market
Assess technical feasibility by working with architecture and design teams to understand system constraints, scalability across product lines, and identify risks and dependencies
Develop feature prioritization recommendations based on user impact, competitive positioning, implementation cost, technical feasibility, and strategic alignment
Drive cross-functional collaboration with architecture, RF/analog, digital design, firmware, software, and validation teams to build consensus and validate implementation approaches
Drive proof-of-concept development from initial prototype through product integration, coordinating resources and presenting findings to technical leadership
Define technical requirements and specifications, including acceptance criteria, performance targets, dependencies, interfaces, and implementation guidance for engineering execution
In this role, core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Own the end-to-end feature evaluation lifecycle, from analyzing emerging Wi-Fi standards to delivering actionable recommendations for product integration
Establish feature priority by synthesizing performance analysis, quantified user benefits, and implementation complexity into clear, data-driven business cases
Collaborate cross-functionally with architecture, RF, silicon, firmware, and software teams to develop proof-of-concept prototypes, synthesizing findings into clear recommendations that support leadership's productization decisions
Serve as the analytical bridge between technical capabilities and user value, ensuring Wi-Fi feature investments align with Apple's product strategy and competitive positioning
Minimum qualifications
BS and a minimum of 20 years relevant industry experience
7
- years hands-on Wi-Fi/IEEE 802.11 system design and architecture experience, with 5
- years in technical leadership roles
- Strong understanding of 802.11 standards with emphasis on MAC and PHY layer features
- Knowledge of WiFi system architectures on HW/FW/SW systems and their partitioning and implementation
Solid foundation in wireless communication theory, signal processing, and performance modeling
Proficiency in performance analysis, simulation, and modeling tools (NS3 or equivalent)
Cross-functional collaboration and project management skills, coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines
Preferred qualifications
MS with 12
Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi 7 features (Multi-Link Operation, 320MHz channels, 4K-QAM)
Familiarity with silicon development processes and constraints
Experience with lab characterization and field testing
