Display Technologies Organization is looking for an engineer to work on technology development of new display and optical module architectures for future Apple products.

DescriptionThe engineer will be working in a highly technical, multi-disciplinary, fast paced team from Apple's Module Technology Center (MTC). The candidate is encouraged to work efficiently and smartly to bring up new module concepts and technologies to enable the next generation of product architectures. Projects will require abilities to plan systemically for technology proof-of-concept (POC) work, doing hands-on experimentation and prototyping without sacrificing quality or attention to detail, and transferring scalable solutions to MP product teams. This is a hands-on interdisciplinary development role that will require versatility across a variety of tasks in a highly collaborative environment.

ResponsibilitiesHands-on design, build, test, and refine hardware prototypes and systems in MTC's labs to enable critical technology proof-of-concept and convergence.

Define and build a systematic technology development plan to establish fundamental engineering learnings, meet tech maturity milestones, and product interception schedule.

Initiate new module technologies to enable challenging design architectures in display and optics.

Hands-on drive POC development in MTC's labs, including resource and DOE planning, empirical validation trials, data analysis and visualization, process optimization, and realistic risk assessment.

Collaboratively work with cross-functional teams to plan and align the development strategy, and demonstrate technical results / issues to executives.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or relevant engineering field with minimum 10 years of experience is required.

Experience in driving technology development projects in R&D environment or similar early-phase stages.

Experience in designing, building and optimizing customized equipment systems, opto-mechanical systems, or POC prototypes.

Experience in process development, performing DOEs, conducting detailed root-cause analysis, characterization, and data analysis to enable, improve, and realize new design architectures.

Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or relevant engineering field with 5 years preferred.

Good technical communication to drive cross-functional planning & alignment, demonstrate development results or communicate technical issues to executive managements.

Strong planning, organization and documentation skills.

Passion for innovation and motivated to constantly learn new areas and skills to expand knowledge and scope.

Design, and built complex mechanical systems and/or POC equipments.

Strong hands-on experience and proficient skillsets in at least one of the following areas: Design, and built complex mechanical systems and/or POC equipments, Design, develop and test mechatronic and/or robotic systems with integrated sensors, motion controls, and hardware components, Design and build opto-mechanical system and/or metrology tools, Experience in optical component and module manufacturing process and techniques, Data processing, statistical tools and data visualization using Matlab, Python, or similar tools.

Pay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
