A critical part of that mission is helping them quickly find and discover local businesses, places of interest, and addresses. Users rely on us for easy, relevant access to local information, such as finding a favorite or romantic restaurant, business hours, nearby coffee shop addresses, and directions to prominent locations. The Siri Maps is part of a wider effort to power search across a variety of Apple products including Siri, Spotlight, Safari, Messages, and more. We leverage the latest ML techniques and LLMs in order to understand queries, rank documents, and create useful, accurate, and helpful answers to users' questions. We are seeking an experienced engineering manager who is passionate about applying Generative AI, LLMs, and other cutting-edge technology at scale to lead a search team focused on providing the most accurate and informative answers delivered in an intuitive and delightful experience for all Maps questions. You will join a team that combines strong technical skills, product vision, and a love of all things local to bring together the pieces needed to deliver a world-class Maps experience in Siri and Spotlight.

- Master's degree or equivalent experience in AI, ML, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience applying and leading teams that apply sophisticated statistical and ML methods to analyze and process large, complex data sets.
- 6+ years of experience managing ML teams and leading ML development.
- Experience in one or more of the following domains: Algorithms, Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, Deep Neural Networks, Distributed Systems, Information Retrieval, ML, NLP, and Computer Vision.
- Strong foundational understanding of mathematics behind modern machine learning, including linear algebra and statistics.
- Hands-on experience in developing & supervising production code in Python or Java.
- Familiarity with databases, SQL, and scripting languages.
- Proven ability to translate requirements from design to implementation, both independently and within larger teams.
- Demonstrated ability to actively manage team performance and take ownership of driving outcomes.
- PhD degree in AI, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics
- Experience in evaluating and deploying multiple search features, including large-scale ML models, deep learning, and NLP solutions.
- Experience with geospatial data is a plus.
