Full Job Description
The Sensing Systems team integrates optical, capacitive, MEMS, and magnetic sensors across a variety of Apple products such as the Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and more. Bring devices to life and enable them to interact with users and the environment in ways never invented before. Join us in crafting solutions the world doesn't know of yet. The Optical Sensing team is looking for electrical engineers with analog, board-level design experience and is a hard-working go-getter. Experience with photodiode front-ends, LED/VCSEL drivers, and basic optics is a plus.
You will design, develop, and launch next-generation optical sensing technologies. You will analyze data to draw conclusions, enhance product design and manufacturability, and drive failure analysis. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams - including Optical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Process Engineers, Reliability Engineers, Test Engineers, and Software Engineers - to deliver state-of-the-art sensing.

- Conduct failure mode analysis, root-cause diagnosis, and system-level problem-solving; execute engineering builds and drive cross-functional communication to enhance product design and manufacturability
- Business travel up to 10% as required
- Electrical engineering background in analog and mixed-signal system-level circuit design, sensor design, modeling, and analog circuit simulations experiences
- Hands-on experience with board-level circuit design and lab equipment (microscopes, detector, light sources etc)
- Scripting experience for data analysis and automation
- Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree
- Optical Sensor and systems integration experience preferred
- Experience in ANSYS, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling tools
- Experience supporting volume manufacturing, including test design, failure analysis, and statistical
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and solid collaboration and leadership skills
- Strong teamwork abilities and self-motivation to tackle technical challenges
- MS or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $126,800 and $220,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
