At Apple, you will join a group of extraordinary engineers and software architects who develop the safety and location features that are shared across all our devices.

Internally, you will apply your skills and experience to tackle some of the most challenging problems in safety today, work closely with systems and hardware engineers to define and develop new safety technologies and applications and advise on core safety technologies like Enhanced Emergency Data, Emergency SOS via satellite, Location transport technologies like SIP PIDF-LO, NILR and AML, Crash & Fall Detection and Enhanced Safety Alerts.

You will be working alongside many cross functional teams from different parts of Apple.

Externally, you will partner with Government Agencies, Public Safety Answering Points, Regulators and industry associations in order to drive their understanding of those aforementioned safety features and increase the reach of those features in new markets. Such partnerships will involve connecting with those stakeholders, many in a face-to-face manner, so some travel may be required.

Experience Requirements:
At least 10 years' cumulative experience in one or more public safety disciplines such as communications, law enforcement, fire, or search and rescue, or emergency medical service.

Experience, including legislative knowledge, with Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) operations in one or more of the following regions: East Asia/Pacific, South and Central America, South Asia.

Basic knowledge of cellular networks systems and their role in the emergency response chain.

Strong understanding of public safety systems architecture, including delivery of voice or text messages to emergency services, with caller location, telecommunicator / dispatcher tools (e.g., CPE, CAD, mapping, radio) and, preferably, additional data (e.g., Medical ID, telematics, etc.)

Experience integrating novel technologies into PSAP or field responder operations, and educating telecommunicators, dispatchers, or field responders as part of the change management process.

Ability to travel as required.

You have a passion for safety technologies. Familiarity with location technologies like GPS / GNSS as well as public safety and emergency communications standards, training, and regulations is a plus.

You thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment and communicate effectively with multi-functional team members.

Bachelor's or higher degree preferred, but not required.

Additional non-English language skills are a plus.

Passion for actively learning new skills, techniques, and processes.

Desire to be exposed to all aspects of development, prototyping, planning, designing, productizing, launching, marketing, and scaling.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $119,800 and $222,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
