2.4 out of 5

Across the four Five Guys locations in North Carolina – Wake Forest, Mooresville, Fayetteville (General & Operations Managers), and Fayetteville (Customer Focused) – a significant and concerning trend emerges: widespread employee dissatisfaction.
The overwhelming majority of reviews, particularly those with lower ratings, point to fundamental issues with compensation, work-life balance, and management effectiveness.
While the Mooresville location received a positive rating (4.0) due to a dynamic, fast-paced environment and a focus on operational tasks, the other three locations presented severe problems.
The Wake Forest and Fayetteville (General Manager) locations experienced overwhelmingly negative feedback, with ratings of 1.0, citing issues with nearly every aspect of the job, including compensation, career opportunities, and leadership.
The Fayetteville (Customer Focused) location, despite a 5.0 rating, identified a misalignment between compensation and extended working hours, highlighting the need for improved recognition and potentially, better benefits.
A recurring theme is the demand for increased compensation to reflect the significant time commitment required, especially considering the high volume of orders and the brand’s popularity.
Despite the popularity of the menu items and high customer demand, the current compensation structure appears to be a major driver of dissatisfaction.
Furthermore, several reviews emphasized the importance of effective management and a supportive work culture, suggesting a need for improvements in leadership and operational practices across all locations.
The need for improved employee recognition and a better balance between compensation and workload seems to be a key issue.

Pros

Compensation was satisfactory.

Cons

-My role as a cashier involved approximately 80% of my shift dedicated to maintaining the dining room through frequent cleaning checks (every 15 minutes). -Despite closing at 10:00 PM, the closing process consistently extended to 2-3 hours. -Communication with management was challenging; specifically, Manager Brittany dismissed concerns regarding my status as a high school student and limited work hours, offering unsolicited advice about her own work history. -During closing, I was incorrectly perceived as having left the premises by Manager Brittany, resulting in an unprofessional outburst. -Lack of communication and support was a significant issue. I contacted the General Manager, Becka, to clarify North Carolina law regarding student work hours past 11:00 PM on school nights, but received no response. Subsequently, my access to Teamworx was terminated without any prior notification or explanation.
