About the Role:
The Instructional Designer (North America) is responsible for designing and developing engaging, high-quality learning solutions that support Subway's restaurant and field training programs. This role focuses on transforming operational content into effective, learner-focused materials across digital and in-person formats. Key priorities include instructional design excellence, alignment to brand standards, collaboration with subject matter experts, and ensuring all training delivers measurable impact and relevance to restaurant operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and Support Global & North American Curriculum Delivery: Contribute to the development and execution of high-quality global curriculum that supports strategic goals and operational needs across internal and field-facing programs. Support content creation across workstreams by ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with production timelines and brand standards.
- Support localization efforts for North America by collaborating with regional teams to tailor content where needed, while maintaining alignment with global brand standards and training objectives.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and Stakeholders: Partner with internal teams, including Operations, Marketing, and Field Training, to gather insights and ensure training materials accurately reflect current business practices, priorities, and brand tone.
- Ensure Brand Alignment and Consistency: Apply Subway's learning design guidelines and visual standards across all deliverables. Maintain consistent tone, structure, and messaging to strengthen brand credibility and learner experience.
- Optimize Content Based on Data and Feedback: Apply Subway's learning design guidelines and visual standards across all deliverables. Maintain consistent tone, structure, and messaging to strengthen brand credibility and learner experience.
- Support Global and Regional Training Initiatives: Collaborate with global and regional learning teams to adapt and localize content for the North America market while maintaining alignment with global strategy and brand standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Curriculum Development and Design.
- Knowledge of Learning Management System and Functionality, blended learning techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to design and develop engaging learning content that simplifies complex concepts and supports operational and business objectives.
- Minimum 3 years in instructional design focusing on curriculum design.
- Travel: 10%.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and assessment strategies to create effective, measurable learning experiences.
- Proficiency in eLearning and creative design tools, including Articulate 360, Rise, Adobe Captivate, Vyond, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Canva, with the ability to create content across digital, virtual, and classroom formats.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and familiarity with SCORM/xAPI standards, accessibility guidelines, and multimedia best practices.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to partner effectively with cross-functional teams, subject matter experts, Franchisees, and global training counterparts.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality, consistency, and alignment to Subway's brand and training standards.
