Primary Duties

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners on research methods, measures, and decisions that affect the immediate work.
  • Contribute evidence to personas, journey maps, service blueprints, and shared research knowledge.
  • Help test and document responsible AI-enabled research workflows while meeting project goals, constraints, timelines, and quality standards.

UX Researcher - AI Enablement

As a UX Researcher - AI Enablement, you will contribute research that helps Target understand and improve AI-enabled and agentic experiences for technical and product practitioners and other enterprise team members. This individual-contributor role focuses on scoped projects with immediate impact at the project and team level.

You will work with Lead and Director-level researchers, applying established qualitative and quantitative methods to well-defined questions and contributing to larger programs and pilots. With direction and guidance, you will contribute to research planning, conduct straightforward studies, participate in analysis and synthesis, and communicate findings that support product and experience decisions.

You will also support responsible AI enablement within UX Research by helping test new tools, document effective workflows, and keep research knowledge organized and reusable. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners across UX, Product, Technology, Data Science, Analytics, and the business while building your craft and technical understanding.

About You:

  • 2+ years of relevant UX, product, academic, or applied research experience, or equivalent demonstrated skills.
  • Working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods and when to use them.
  • Experience conducting straightforward interviews, usability tests, or similar studies with guidance.
  • Ability to organize qualitative data and perform basic analysis of simple quantitative data.
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills with peers and cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to work independently on well-defined problems, manage assigned work, and meet project deadlines.
  • Curiosity about AI/ML and willingness to build technical literacy; prior AI experience is helpful but not required.
  • Commitment to inclusive research, accessibility, participant privacy, ethics, and high-quality craft.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
