This is an onsite role based out of our Boston, MA office. Monday-Thursday in-office and Friday remote.
About the RoleOur team is at an inflection point in how work gets done. After investing in AI across workflows and individual productivity, we are rethinking our fundamental operations in an AI-first environment.
This role is not about incremental improvement or digitizing existing processes. It is about redefining how work happens end-to-endsimplifying where possible, rearchitecting where necessary, and building an operating model that fully leverages AI and automation.
We are seeking a technologist at heart to lead this transformation across our Enterprise Platforms teams, including Legal, Procurement, and Global Security and Safety. These functions are critical to Wayfair's operations but like most organizations, have structured processes to capitalize on human strengths, not machine strengths. This role is responsible for changing that.
You will identify the true objective behind workflowsnot just optimize existing stepsand determine what should be automated, simplified, or eliminated entirely.
You will define the future state, select the right tools, and partner with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to bring solutions to life and execute automation builds.
At its core, this role ensures teams operate in the "judgment zone"focused on high-value decision-makingwhile AI and automation handle the rest.
What You'll DoArchitect the Future State: Conduct deep-dive process mapping of workflows across Enterprise. Identify friction points where we can automate, simplify, or eliminate manual effort, and determine the best tool (AI or otherwise).
Build Workflows: Identify the highest priority workflows and own the end-to-end build and maintenance of these workflows, leveraging Engineering resourcing for complex tasks such as integrations.
Build the Roadmap: Develop a high-ROI sequence of initiatives.
You will decide what we tackle now for immediate impact versus what we build toward for long-term transformation.
Drive Technical & Business Linkage: Act as the "translator" between business needs and technical requirements. You'll work with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to drive results.
Evaluate & Curate: Navigate the crowded AI vendor landscape with a critical eye. You'll assess third-party solutions for scalability and fitfocusing on what actually works for our teams, and which tools are best for specific use cases.
Quantify and Communicate Impact: Develop a system for tracking and monitoring progress, including reporting across key metrics including cost savings, efficiency gains, and risk reduction.
Lead Through Change: Build consensus across various stakeholder groups as they navigate the shift from legacy processes to AI-enabled workflows.
What You'll NeedOutcome Orientation: You can anchor on an outcome and think creatively about how to get there without defaulting to the status quo.
Systems Thinking: You understand the importance of the right process to unlock the full potential of tech. You see the hidden interdependencies in complex organizations and can redesign them for maximum flow.
Technical & AI Literacy: You have a strong grasp of what AI and automation can (and cannot) do. You can quickly grasp technical concepts and apply them when building in new tools (e.g. n8n, Claude, etc.). You possibly have a background in coding (or have a willingness to learn as it relates to automation). You are a credible partner to technical teams.
Cross-Functional Fluency: You are naturally curious, and interested in learning compliance and commercial drivers that underpin your work. You navigate matrixed environments by building influence rather than relying on authority.
A Bias for Action: You don't get stuck in "analysis paralysis." You are comfortable with ambiguity and have a proven ability to take a massive list of ideas and distill them into an executable plan.
Ownership Mentality: You care more about what actually changes than what gets proposed. You are willing to own the outcomes, from the initial map to the final implementation.
Preferred Backgrounds
We think the skills for this role could come from a variety of backgrounds, but strong fits likely include management consulting, analytics, or product management.
Leadership Influence: This is a new, high-visibility role with significant executive sponsorship and access. This role will be expected to communicate progress to leadership, nimbly evaluate business tradeoffs, and work independently across a variety of stakeholders.
Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities: Wayfair is fully committed to providing equal opportunities for all individuals, including individuals with disabilities. As part of this commitment, Wayfair will make reasonable accommodations to the known physical or mental limitations of qualified individuals with disabilities, unless doing so would impose an undue hardship on business operations.
