Software Engineer Opportunity At Wayfair

Our 3rd Party Multichannel Fulfillment team (3P MCF) is at the forefront of marketplace expansion and transformation, designing systems that connect Wayfair directly with fulfillment networks at leading retailers. By building seamless integrations and scalable orchestration platforms, we're unlocking billions in potential gross market value, accelerating supplier onboarding from weeks to days, and enabling a new generation of supply chain flexibility and global assortment growth.
For software engineers, this is a rare opportunity to shape the backbone of a multi-billion-dollar marketplace from automating real-time inventory and order flows to leveraging GenAI and distributed systems to make fulfillment effortless for suppliers across the world. We are looking for outstanding candidates to join us as full-time Software Engineers.
What You'll Do
Work in a highly collaborative environment interacting closely with other software engineers, product managers, designers, and operations to identify opportunities and implement solutions. Serve as technical lead on software development projects, driving or contributing to design, architecture, and task work breakdown structure. Help drive the team's strategy and roadmap, working closely with the team's manager and product managers. Drive innovation and productivity improvements within the team utilizing AI and other new technologies. Hands-on development, including inception, design, execution, and delivery following good design, coding practices and engineering rigor. Help and mentor other engineers technically and professionally by sharing, pairing, and developing other opportunities for education. Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient backend services and APIs using Java and Python, ensuring high performance, reliability, and responsiveness. Focus on quality and production readiness for the team including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation, support and proactive troubleshooting of the deliverables owned and delivered. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex system issues, ensuring platform stability, security, and scalability. Drive ongoing improvements to CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and system observability. Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure operational excellence and overall platform health. Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches and propose solutions to meet team and project goals. Stay current with evolving technologies and industry best practices to enable continuous system and process improvements.
We Are A Match Because You Have
5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong track record of building scalable platforms or internal tools that support large-scale operations. Proficiency with Java and Python. Front end development experience, including technologies such as React, Javascript, Typescript, and HTML. Proficiency in backend development using object-oriented languages (e.g., Java), and proficiency with both relational and non-relational databases. Proficiency with Continuous Integration (CI/CD), agile methodologies, and modern DevOps practices. Expertise building solutions leveraging distributed infrastructure (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, etc). Experience leveraging monitoring and logging technologies (e.g. DataDog, Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, etc). Substantial experience building, deploying, and supporting serverless applications in GCP, Azure, or AWS. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across teams. Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure as code technologies. Experience in leveraging AI tools to accelerate software development and testing.
Experience With The Following Is Nice To Have:
Experience integrating front-end components with REST APIs or GraphQL services. PHP development experience. E-commerce domain experience in areas such as inventory, order fulfillment, and shipment tracking. Experience building and supporting complex B2B web-based system integrations.
