Full Job Description

Strategic Sourcing Procurement Manager
The above base pay range may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. The range listed is just one component of Wayfair's total compensation package for employees. Depending on the position offered, equity, bonuses, commissions and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a comprehensive suite of medical, financial and additional benefits. This position is based in our Boston headquarters. We believe in-person collaboration is a competitive advantage. Enterprise employees are typically in-office Monday through Thursday, with Fridays remote.
What You'll Do
  • Partner with the business to define and solve problems
  • Work directly with senior leaders to understand their goals, constraints, and tradeoffs
  • Help teams get clear on what they actually need not just execute against a brief
  • Connect work across teams so decisions hold together at the business level
  • Lead sourcing across key areas
  • Own sourcing for business-critical categories, including supply chain, stores, and outsourced labor
  • Identify, evaluate, and build relationships with the right external partners
  • Structure deals that balance cost, quality, speed, and the ability to scale
  • Use data to drive better decisions
  • Analyze spend, market dynamics, and supplier performance to shape recommendations
  • Build the business case and quantify tradeoffs so leaders can make informed calls
  • Find opportunities to reduce cost, improve service levels, or rethink how work gets done
  • Lead negotiations
  • Own complex, high-value negotiations from start to finish
  • Ground your approach in data, benchmarks, and market context not just intuition
  • Drive outcomes that hold up over time, not just in the moment
  • Improve how we operate
  • Find places where process creates unnecessary friction and fix them
  • Introduce repeatable approaches and, where it makes sense, automation
  • Help good practices spread across teams and categories
  • Build strong supplier relationships
  • Set clear expectations and track performance against them
  • Address problems early, before they become bigger issues
  • Build partnerships that can grow as Wayfair does
What We're Looking For
  • A systems thinker. You see how individual decisions connect to larger objectives and you think through second-order effects before others have spotted the first-order problem.
  • Analytically sharp. You're fluent with data and use it to build a case and challenge assumptions, not just report a number.
  • A credible partner to senior leaders. You earn trust quickly, navigate organizational dynamics, and get things done through influence rather than authority.
  • A strong negotiator. Whether in a formal vendor negotiation or an internal conversation, you know how to find leverage and move things forward.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. You work from first principles when there's no playbook, and you adjust quickly when things change.
  • A connector. You naturally spot misalignment across teams and pull the right people together.
  • A finisher. You manage multiple priorities without losing momentum, and projects don't stall on your watch.
  • 7+ years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, finance, or a similar commercial role is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree required; analytical field preferred. MBA is a plus.
  • No procurement background needed
Why This Role
Most sourcing roles put you in a box one category, one set of stakeholders, one established playbook to follow. This role is deliberately different. Your portfolio spans genuinely distinct parts of the business, and each area will require you to think from first principles rather than reach for a template. The work is fast-moving and often ambiguous. You'll be the person who brings structure to problems that aren't fully formed yet, earns a seat at the table with senior leaders, and turns complicated vendor and investment decisions into clear outcomes. That kind of work compounds the more you understand how Wayfair operates, the more valuable you become to every part of the business you touch. If you want broad exposure, real ownership, and the chance to be a genuine thought partner rather than a request processor this is that role.
