Primary Duties

  • Administer advanced repair methods for case goods, using burn-ins, refinishing techniques, joinery, and color matching.
  • Repair and refinish damaged wood, leather, or upholstery furniture and mechanical parts.
  • Utilize scan technology to document carton-level information and monitor inventory for replacement parts.
  • Evaluate damages to determine repairability and perform required adjustments to ensure items meet perfect delivery standards.
  • Provide direct input on user tools and contribute to the development of training materials for the team.
  • Participate in our 'Medic on the Go' program by transitioning between warehouse-based restorations and traveling to customer residences to perform high-quality, on-site furniture diagnostics and professional repairs.

Furniture Repair Technician III
Location: Aberdeen, MD | Job Type: Full-time | Pay: $40.82 - $42.32

As a Furniture Repair Technician III at Wayfair, you are a critical expert in our logistics network, directly responsible for ensuring our customers receive their orders in perfect condition. We move large volumes of product and rely on your specialized craftsmanship to evaluate, restore, and finalize items ahead of delivery. This is a high-impact role where your expertise in furniture restoration helps reduce damage and drives customer satisfaction.

This role requires an independent expert who can manage complex repair and restoration tasks while working cooperatively with the broader logistics team. Your primary duties will include:

  • Technical Execution: Repair and refinish damaged wood, leather, or upholstery furniture and mechanical parts.
  • Technology & Inventory: Utilize scan technology to document carton-level information and monitor inventory for replacement parts.
  • Quality & Preparation: Evaluate damages to determine repairability and perform required adjustments to ensure items meet perfect delivery standards.
  • Leadership & Innovation: Provide direct input on user tools and contribute to the development of training materials for the team.
  • Execute Field Service Repairs: Participate in our 'Medic on the Go' program by transitioning between warehouse-based restorations and traveling to customer residences to perform high-quality, on-site furniture diagnostics and professional repairs.

At least 5+ years of prior experience in furniture repair or construction.

Advanced understanding of repairing wood items (stain matching, defect repair) and various upholstery fabric types.

Ability to work on a warehouse floor for 8+ hours a day in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Ability to frequently lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted and maneuver products up to 150 lbs. via team lift.

Ability to read and comprehend English to ensure personal and team safety.

Ability to maintain a professional and friendly demeanor while working in a customer's private residence.

Proficiency with power tools (drills, sanders, saws) and comfort using handheld scanning devices.

A certification in Furniture Repair/Restoration is preferred.
