Asset Protection SpecialistAs an Asset Protection Specialist, you'll play a key role in creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for Wayfair associates, customers, and visitors. With a sharp eye for detail and a calm, professional demeanor, you'll monitor security systems, support emergency protocols, and proactively resolve safety concerns, ensuring our operations run smoothly and our people feel confident.

What Does an Asset Protection Specialist Do?Welcome & Protect: Greet visitors, employees, and vendors with professionalism while maintaining a secure and friendly store atmosphere.
Monitor & Respond: Oversee security systems (CCTV, access control, alarms), respond swiftly to incidents, and take action to minimize risk.
Demonstrate Reliability: Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality. Communicate proactively to ensure uninterrupted coverage.
Stay Vigilant: Identify risks early and take initiative to prevent incidents. Keep detailed records of observations, events, and interventions.
Implement Safety Protocols: Apply knowledge of emergency response procedures, access control systems, and safety regulations to protect people and property.
Support Incident Management: Assist with investigations, support safety audits, and respond calmly during emergencies or disruptions.
Communicate with Discretion: Handle sensitive situations with professionalism, confidentiality, and empathy while maintaining trust and neutrality.
Maintain Operational Integrity: Help monitor inventory movement, support shrink reduction efforts, and report compliance concerns when needed.
Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with store leaders and the Asset Protection Manager to support training, safety initiatives, and process improvement.
Adapt Under Pressure: Stay calm and composed during rapidly changing or high-stakes situations, always prioritizing safety and support.
Operate as "One Team": You will support Wayfair's total store goals by cross-training across key store functions, including sales and back-of-house operations. You'll flex where needed to support customers, teammates, store needs and peak business periods.
You'll Thrive in This Role If You Have:
Asset Protection
Experience
1
- year in asset protection, security, or a similar role. Experience with access control systems or CCTV is a plus.
Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Schedule Flexibility
Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on store needs.
Customer-Facing Confidence: 1
• year of experience in a retail or customer service environment is preferred.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
Tech Proficiency: Comfortable using Google Workspace (Sheets, Gmail, Docs) and able to quickly learn new security and operational systems.
Detail-Oriented Judgment: Strong professionalism, organization, and sound discretion in sensitive or confidential situations.
Effective Communication: Clear and confident verbal and written skills to document incidents and engage with others professionally.
Strong Time Management: Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and stay focused in a fast-paced environment with evolving demands.
Additional Physical and Environmental RequirementsPhysical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling.
Mobility & Movement: Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day.
Lifting Ability: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis. Some projects may involve heavier items, which must be managed with proper assistance or equipment.
