Responsibilities

Primary Duties

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze store design, construction processes, and cost structures to identify opportunities for value improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies for cost reduction, improved efficiency, and increased value throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Conduct value engineering studies to optimize design, materials, and processes while maintaining quality and operational store performance.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing, suppliers and vendors to negotiate pricing, evaluate alternative solutions, and drive continuous improvement in store prototype. Seek feedback from Developers and General Contractors on opportunities to reduce costs, reduce construction timeline, and increase speed of store opening.
  • Responsible for facilitating value engineering initiatives through the Change Request (CR) process with the Prototype Management team. Work closely with Design Review process of construction drawings that are submitted to the A&E Design team, which involves the review and commentary on design and engineering documentation to assure compliance with updated prototype design intent.
  • Ensuring that value engineering activities comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Engage other leaders in Development (e.g., Entitlements, Construction, Real Estate, Engineering, Design, etc.) in resolving site adapt exception request build standards based on established spec alternatives.
  • Participation in review, comment and approval/rejection of exception requests.

Knowledge of convenience store and petroleum facility design and operations preferred.Proven experience in value engineering or cost management within the construction industry.Ability to analyze complex data, identify cost-saving opportunities, and evaluate potential solutions.Experience in cost estimating, budgeting, and contract negotiation.Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.Understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.Experience with the use of industry standard design software such as AutoCAD, Revit Adobe Creative Suite, Blue Beam Revu as well as office related software such as MS Projects, Excel and Word, etc.

Soft Skills

Excellent communication skills and the ability to present findings clearly to various stakeholders.Strong organizational and collaborative skills while coordinating and working cross functionally with multiple disciplines and stakeholders, presenting positions even in challenging circumstances whilst maintaining professional decorum, and leadership principles as a role model for others.

Full Job Description

Job Title
Responsible for maximizing the value return and quality of our new store build specifications, while minimizing the cost. Collaborate with cross-functional teams analyzing architectural and engineering proposals, process requirements and related technical data as it pertains to design requirements. Conduct rigorous assessments of specifications and design requirements, looking for ways to reduce waste, customer costs and improve efficiency. Leads the cross-functional Value Engineering Committee that reviews cost saving design ideas, brainstorms innovative solutions that are beneficial to rethinking Store Development workflows, streamlining processes, and integrating the latest technologies to deliver faster and more cost-effective new stores. Develop and manage a pipeline of value engineering ideas to be implemented yearly to meet build cost reduction targets.
