As Customs Entry Writer, you will ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported products while processing separate entries to Custom Border Patrol (US CUSTOMS).
You will also compute tariffs (taxes), and price conversions of merchandise imported from foreign destinations. In addition, you will also be asked to examine various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays, all in line with business strategy and financial objectives, Group guidelines and policies.
You will collaborate with internal teams (operations, sales, and procurement) and external partners (customers) to process customs entries, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitating the efficient clearance of shipments, quickly and efficiently for our customer base.

Key
Responsibilities
Process documents through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) portal.
- Process ACH Duty payments.
- Handle CF28/CF29 requests for information.
- Work closely with other departments to deliver high level of service to customers.
- Maintain recordkeeping as required by US Customs rules and regulations.
Impeccable customer service.
Serve as the primary company customs representative for your customer account base, ensuring prompt response to customer inquiries and follow through on issues until resolution to customer satisfaction.
Demonstrate mastery with respect to the customs brokerage products' standard operating procedures (SOP) and best practices.
Direct ownership of Customer Standard Operating Procedures and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) databases for customer account base to ensure full compliance of CBP and customer requirements.
Adhere to a high level of operational excellence internally and externally, with respect to on-time performance, accuracy, and customer service
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Strongly preferred

• years in shipping/logistics/supply chain management industry/transportation.
Depending on department needs, may need a customs-licensed individual.
Preferred
experience using transportation management systems, especially CargoWise.
Attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Advanced-level Excel knowledge.
Physical ability to: communicate clearly and accurately, operate a computer and other office equipment

Pay range
$50,000-70,000 total compensation, based on experience.
DHL pays $24 for Freight Agent in Edison, New Jersey, with most salaries ranging from $18 to $33. Pay can vary based on role, experience, and local cost of living.
