Operates the following equipment:

ELECTRICAL: Operates meters and testing equipment, programmers, and soldering tools (e.g., voltmeters, amp meters, micrometers, meggers, programmers, test instrumentation, dial indicators)

ELECTRONICS: Operates computers (desktop programs) and appropriate tools; adjusts set points and machine controls (e.g., digital volt ohmmeter, handheld amp probe and held voltage tester, logic probes, CRT equipment)

HYDRAULIC: Operates / sets up hydraulic pumps and 3-way piloted and 4-way valve systems

MECHANICAL: Operates shop equipment (e.g., grinders, drills, saws, threaders, lathe, mill); starts up processing equipment, building equipment, and refrigeration systems

WELDING: Sets pressures on oxyacetylene equipment, arc welder, carbon arc welder, electrode welder, and tig welder

Repair & Replacement:

  • BUILDING SYSTEMS: Repairs plant equipment

ELECTRICAL: Installs conduits and voltage motors; repairs / replaces fuses, lamps, breakers, switches (e.g., wiring controls, power circuits); uses standard brand of limit, micro switches, starters, control devices

ELECTRONICS: Installs / repairs / replaces / calibrates 4-20 milliamp sensor circuits; programs PLC

HYDRAULIC: Replaces cylinders, valves, and pumps; performs preventative maintenance (e.g., 4-way / Vickers valves)

MECHANICS: Replaces various shafts and bearings, filters, belts, chains, sprockets, and sheaves (using instruction manuals and parts lists); maintains / repairs processing equipment, building equipment, and refrigeration systems; sets mechanical functions on various tracking conveyors; assists in installation of new systems (including bearing)

PNEUMATIC: Replaces air cylinders, valves, and pumps; performs PM

WELDING: Prepares surfaces; selects correct welding rod; cuts / welds (metals, stainless steel, copper pipe, silver solder, soft solder joints)

  • Inspection:
  • ELECTRICAL: Inspects plant / OSHA-related items; generates work orders for repairs of loose connections

HYDRAULIC: Monitors system pressures; compares to standards

MECHANICS: Monitors various system temperatures and pressures; performs OSHA inspections for compliance on guards, cylinders, and unsafe conditions

PNEUMATIC: Monitors system pressures; compares to standards; writes up repair / rebuild order

REFRIGERATION / HVAC: Monitors system pressures and temperatures; compares to standards; inspects systems for leaks; monitors fluid levels including glycol levels proper ratios

Safety / Compliance: Performs preventative maintenance ELECTRICAL: Applies proper lock-out / tag-out on all electrical equipment

  • Troubleshooting:
  • BUILDING SYSTEMS: Uses forklift and pallet jack manuals to troubleshoot plant equipment; troubleshoots low temperatures / pressures in hot water systems, lost power; isolates problems
  • ELECTRICAL: Troubleshoots all systems with / without schematics and photoelectric sensing equipment

ELECTRONICS: Controls power or programming fault, Modicon / Allen-Bradley PLCs, and PID control devices

HYDRAULIC: Troubleshoots hydraulic pump, receiver tank, and proper pressure settings

MECHANICS: Identifies problems with gearboxes, pumps, valves, and other basic system components, including vacuum conveyor system

    PNEUMATIC: Troubleshoots systems

REFRIGERATION / HVAC: Troubleshoots refrigeration systems (e.g., ammonia, glycol, freon); isolates problems

    Reads blueprints (electrical, mechanics, welding)

Draws / designs blueprints to repair / modify / construct / make process changes (mechanics)

Makes changes to system design (hydraulic, pneumatic)
