Central Fill Pharmacy Technician I

As a Central Fill Pharmacy Technician I, you will be an essential member of a team producing several thousand prescriptions an hour in a large, automated pharmacy. Your focus will be on order fulfillment and stock replenishment in several areas of the production line. You will be working with a large team of other pharmacy technicians to ensure your team accurately meets daily pharmacy production goals.

Key responsibilities and essential functions include:
  • Assembles medication orders using fully automated, semi-automated, and manual assembly systems
  • Prepares/dispenses ambient and refrigerated scripts in manual fill areas
  • Replenishes pills for automated systems
  • Checks product integrity and enters lot/expiration date into the system
  • Cleans/maintains automated prescription processing equipment
  • Stages medication to be filled for automation and restocks shelves
  • Complies with SOP to process out of date products
  • Ensures privacy and confidentiality of personal health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA
  • Assists with maintenance, organization, and upkeep of work areas

Qualifications and key requirements:
  • Intermediate operations individual contributor position providing service or support through manual operational tasks in a hands-on environment supporting daily business activities.
  • Works under moderate supervision on mostly routine tasks but may deviate from or interpret standard procedures based on knowledge gained through learned experience.
  • Age requirement: 18+
  • Work experience: 2+ years of experience as a pharmacy technician preferred
  • Knowledge/skills/abilities:
    • Strong verbal/written communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus in stressful situations
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Microsoft Office experience and general computer skills
    • Production goal oriented
    • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate clearly in English (required)
  • Education: High school education
  • Licenses/certifications: TSBP Licensed Pharmacy Technician
  • Physical demands and working conditions:
    • Work in a fast-paced production environment with a large team
    • Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays while remaining flexible to business needs
    • Use arms/hands in a repetitive motion requiring hand and wrist dexterity
    • Work extended hours; stand/sit for extended periods
    • Stay past scheduled shift to complete daily production in the event of systems failure or production downtime, as needed
    • Regularly lift up to 25 lbs; occasionally lift up to 40 lbs
