This role is hybrid working from one of our engineering hubs based in Bay Area, Seattle or New York.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will:

- Operate and evolve DoorDash's service mesh, built on Envoy and modern cloud-native technologies.
- Design and implement systems that improve reliability, observability, latency, and security for all service-to-service communication.
- Develop automation and tooling to manage configurations, policy rollout, and traffic routing at scale.
- Collaborate with Compute, Cloud Infra, and Product teams to ensure consistent networking abstractions and developer experience.
- Drive best practices in API management, service discovery, load balancing, and fault tolerance.
- Work in a 100% cloud environment (AWS, GCP) using technologies such as Envoy, Argo CD, Prometheus, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
We're excited about you because:
- You have 5+ years of experience as a software engineer in infrastructure, networking, or platform engineering.
- You have hands-on experience with service mesh or networking systems such as Envoy, Istio, Linkerd, or NGINX.
- You are comfortable operating distributed systems and debugging complex traffic or reliability issues.
- You have strong development skills in Go, Python, or similar languages.
- You understand containerized environments and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, etc.).
Bonus points if you:
- Have experience designing and running high-traffic, production-grade service communication systems.
- Have strong knowledge of HTTP, TCP/IP, TLS, load balancing, and DNS.
- Have experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
- Are passionate about reliability, simplicity, and developer experience.
- Have contributed to the CNCF or Envoy communities.
