2.7 out of 5

Across the three Subway locations in Utah – Kaysville, Magna, and Ogden – a recurring theme emerges: compensation and career progression represent significant challenges.
The most prevalent concern is inadequate wages, particularly for roles beyond the initial entry-level ‘Sandwich Artist’ position at Kaysville, and the ‘General Manager in Training’ role at Magna.
Employees consistently reported that compensation failed to meet basic living expenses or provide opportunities for salaries" class="text-primary-600">salary increases, leading to dissatisfaction and a perception of limited career growth.
This was especially pronounced in the General Manager in Training role, highlighting a critical gap in remuneration that significantly impacted morale and potentially retention.
Despite these challenges, several positive aspects were consistently noted.
A strong work environment, including positive customer interactions and a generally enjoyable atmosphere (particularly at Magna), was frequently cited.
The operational focus and discipline, particularly at the Ogden location with its emphasis on cleanliness and preparedness, were also valued.
Furthermore, the ability to build relationships with regular customers and the flexibility to work independently and collaboratively were appreciated across locations.
The semi-casual uniform policy was also noted as a comfort.
Ultimately, the Subway locations in Utah are grappling with a critical need to address compensation structures and provide clearer pathways for employee development.
While a strong operational focus and positive customer interactions are strengths, they are undermined by concerns about inadequate pay and limited career advancement opportunities.
Addressing these issues is paramount to improving employee satisfaction, retention, and overall performance.

This was a fantastic opportunity to begin.

During my time at the subway, I found the work environment to be a positive and valuable introduction to the workforce. While I understand the environment has evolved since my employment, I appreciated the opportunity. However, the compensation structure is primarily geared towards entry-level students, which may not be sustainable for long-term employment.
