The Retail team is a high-growth startup within Uber, tasked with expanding our marketplace beyond traditional delivery. As the Operations Manager for Alcohol Merchandising, you will be the primary architect of the category's site strategy. What You'll Do
- Strategic Category Leadership & Growth: Own the end-to-end site merchandising strategy for the Alcohol category. You'll perform deep-dive analysis and run rapid experiments to uncover untapped growth opportunities, balancing conversion with long-term retention.
- Lifecycle Promotional Architecture: Drive end-to-end promotional strategy across the customer journey, crafting campaigns to drive acquisition, increase purchase frequency, and deepen long-term loyalty while optimizing for ROI.
- Be the Voice of the Customer Internally: Act as the "eyes and ears" for our Product team. You'll identify the features needed for next year's big bets, help prioritize the roadmap for future application changes, and lead the charge as we launch new product features in-market.
- Bridge Strategy and Execution: You won't just identify problems; you'll fix them. You will identify operational bottlenecks and build the workflows that allow the Alcohol category to scale smoothly across hundreds of cities.
- Collaborate to Win: Partner closely with Marketing, Sales, and Legal to ensure our campaigns are high-impact, brand-aligned, and fully compliant within the unique regulatory landscape of the alcohol industry.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in Operations, E-commerce Merchandising, Product Management, Category Management, or a related field.
- Advanced experience with Excel/Google Sheets.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in SQL.
- Direct experience in the alcohol industry, beverage alcohol retail, or working within the complexities of the three-tier distribution system.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, and ambiguous environment.
- Previous experience working within a high-growth tech platform or a dual-sided marketplace.
- A track record of driving growth through A/B testing, seasonal campaign planning, and data-backed site optimizations.
- Experience collaborating with Legal, Policy, and Product teams to launch initiatives in a highly regulated or compliance-heavy environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously without losing sight of the details.
