Uber is seeking a Senior Design Program Manager to join the Earner, Fleets, & Safety Design Team. In this role, you will drive operational excellence across a complex and high-impact portfolio, partnering closely with Design, Product, and Engineering leadership to translate strategy into scalable systems.

This role operates at both the forest and tree level, shaping portfolio health, influencing roadmap planning, and building mechanisms that enable teams to deliver high-quality, inclusive, and scalable product experiences.

You will own large, ambiguous initiatives end-to-end and establish frameworks that improve predictability, quality, and business impact across the portfolio.

This role requires systems thinking, executive-level communication, operational rigor, bold innovation, and a deep commitment to solving customer challenges for Earners and Safety-critical use cases globally.

What You Will DoLead recurring and ad hoc portfolio planning in partnership with Design Managers and Product leadership, ensuring alignment to company priorities

Partner with peers and Design Managers to balance resourcing across portfolios, identifying efficiencies and tradeoffs

Translate business strategy into operational frameworks that improve focus, predictability, and impact

Influence roadmap shaping and planning processes across multiple areas

Define and maintain mechanisms to assess capacity, portfolio health, and performance

Drive project management and resourcing methods, tools, and processes for the Earner & Safety portfolio

Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to streamline design operations

Provide mentorship to more junior team members, setting the standard for operational excellence and systems thinking

Raise the bar for program management craft across the Design org

Advocate for the work of the DPM team and connect operational excellence to business outcomes

Basic Qualifications5

• years experience as a project manager, program manager, or producer in a design consultancy or in-house product design/UX team

Experience leading large, complex design initiatives across multiple product areas

Proven ability to drive portfolio-level planning, roadmap alignment, and resourcing strategies

Experience partnering with Design, Product, and Engineering leadership to ship consumer-facing products

Experience creating scalable workflows and implementing process improvements across multiple teams

Proficiency with project and asset management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, Lucidchart, Google Workspace, etc.)

Preferred QualificationsExceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including experience presenting to leadership forums

Strong analytical ability. Able to define and leverage metrics to assess portfolio health and team performance

Skilled in conflict resolution, tradeoff navigation, and influencing without authority

Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in evolving environments

Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously while influencing across functions

Experience embedding accessibility, inclusive design, and scalable design systems into workflows

Experience leveraging AI tools and automations to increase design velocity and operational efficiency

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year

• USD$185,500 per year.

You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan.
