Position Purpose: The Corporate Safety Director: Manufacturing is responsible for the execution and implementation of Safety programs across ACI's Manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for ensuring execution and implementation of safety programs, regulatory compliance, providing regulatory and technical support, training assistance at all levels within the business, leading direct and indirect reports to mitigate risk, and develop sustainable solutions into a cohesive and purpose-directed occupational safety program, aligned with our values of putting people first.
This position can be located in Boise, ID, Pleasanton, CA, Los Angeles, CA or Riverside, CA.
Main
Responsibilities
Ensuring program and regulatory compliance while driving a culture of safety excellence and putting our people first:
Proactively participates in the design, development, review and implementation of policies, programs, processes, systems and governance that ensure safety compliance, continuous improvement, and performance.
- Participates in cross-functional teams in the development of safety programs and "toolboxes."
- Reviews the implementation of technical programs for effectiveness with the ability to monitor understanding and implementation of programs.
- Interpret federal and state OSHA regulations, National Consensus Standards and apply them appropriately.
- Demonstrates depth and breadth of knowledge in hazard recognition, evaluation and control. Initiates and drives the development and execution of tactical and strategic initiatives to eliminate hazards and reduce or eliminate associated risks.
- Represents the company by interfacing with government regulatory agencies and works to resolve regulatory issues and risk mitigation of future issues.
- Must have previous experience with negotiating and/or proposing OSHA citation severity reduction.
- Monitor compliance to company safety policies and/or programs to reduce claim exposure and regulatory enforcement.
- Partner with legal and cross-functional departments on regulatory matters.
- Communicate regulatory updates to all stakeholders.
Proactively work with DC Manufacturing leadership in the audit, identification, and action planning for identified opportunities.
Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) and provides regulatory assistance, technical support and training to all levels within the organization.
Demonstrates in-depth knowledge, understanding, application, and implementation of safety programs, policies and workers' compensation laws, risk management, and regulations and has ability to translate them into proactive, actionable processes, programs and practices which are clearly understood at all levels.
We Are Looking For Candidates Who Possess The Following:
Experience
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Safety, Industrial Engineering, Human Factors Engineering or related field preferred
Advanced degree and/or professional certification (CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, etc.) preferred.
Experience interfacing with government regulatory agencies
Well-organized, detail oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment
Advanced technical writing skills to participate in the creation and maintenance of policies, procedures, and documents.
Possess knowledge of content management systems and technical writing best practices.
Travel
Requirements
Regular, multi-state travel.
Travel may include transport by airplane, rail and or personal motor vehicle.
Physical Environment: Work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment but occasionally outdoors, in refrigerated areas or freezing conditions.
May spend long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties with occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
