About the Role
Strategic Operations Managers in Safety & Identity Operations are responsible for safeguarding the trust of the Uber platform globally. This includes shaping how we verify users, detect and mitigate fraud and abuse, and close systemic gaps that create risk.
This role sits at the intersection of identity, risk, and operations, with responsibility for owning and driving forward key problem spaces related to account integrity.
You will uncover vulnerabilities, investigate emerging fraud patterns, and develop solutions that strengthen platform integrity across Uber's lines of business.
We are looking for a highly curious and analytical operator who dives deep into data, asks the right questions, and takes ownership from problem identification through solution execution. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating ambiguity, forming strong hypotheses, and translating insights into clear recommendations, improved policies/processes, and measurable impact.
The ideal candidate combines structured thinking, investigative rigor, and stakeholder influence, and is comfortable operating from strategy through execution in a dynamic, global environment.
What You'll Do
Own problem discovery and root cause analysis across identity and account integrity, proactively identifying gaps, vulnerabilities, and emerging risk vectors
Analyze large datasets, customer insights, and operational signals to uncover fraud patterns, behavioral anomalies, and systemic weaknesses
Develop and drive recommendations to improve internal policies, processes, and controls that strengthen user identity confidence globally
Partner cross-functionally (Operations, Product, Policy, Legal, Risk, Engineering) to translate insights into scalable solutions and ensure effective implementation
Design, test, and iterate on new detection signals, operational workflows, and enforcement strategies
Leverage data and AI tools (e.g., LLMs, automation, advanced analytics) to accelerate investigation, generate insights, and improve operational efficiency
Build and own reporting and metrics, tracking identity health, fraud trends, and impact of interventions
Communicate clear, data-driven narratives to influence stakeholders and drive action
Basic Qualifications

- years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, analytics, or a related field
- Strong analytical mindset with experience using Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis, including the use of Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas
- Experience utilizing generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, or Cursor) to automate routine tasks, draft technical documentation, or debug code to improve workflow efficiency
- Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
SQL proficiency and experience working with large datasets
High ownership mindset with a bias toward action and execution
